King witnesses inaugural Madagascar motorway launch

His Majesty King Mswati III and Inkhosikati LaMatsebula attended the inaugural launch of Madagascar’s first motorway. Launching the 260km road project was Madagascar President and SADC Chairperson Andry Rajoelina on Sunday.

Other leaders who joined His Majesty the King included Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Lesotho Prime Minister Sam Matekane and SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi.

The project was constructed by Egyptian African Arab for Development and Samcrete Engineers and Contractors.

The King and the other leaders were taken on a drive along the motorway in 10 electric buses led by President Rajoelina before concluding the 45th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.

From Madagascar, His Majesty and his delegation proceeded to Japan for the 9th TICAD meeting.
