Yellow Epilepsy Week 2019 Launch

International Epilepsy Day is a special event which promotes awareness of epilepsy in more than 120 countries each year. Every year on the second Monday of February people join together to celebrate and highlight the problems faced by people with epilepsy, their families and carers.

This is a day for everyone, no matter where you are, no matter how small your group or large your area, no matter whether you focus on the medical or the social aspects of the disease. We want you to help us celebrate International Epilepsy Day! Let’s speak with one global voice. The Day is a joint initiative by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE).

“Yellow Epilepsy Week”

The Eswatini Epilepsy Organization on annual bases celebrates the international day of epilepsy. Which is the 1st day of the second week of February, however, we celebrate the whole week in different styles under the theme dubbed, “the Yellow Week of Epilepsy”. In this year’s epilepsy week, we will stage a couple of events including but not limited to the; the celebration of the “Yellow International Epilepsy Day”, “Yellow Valentine’s Day” at Adega Restuarent, “Yellow Open Lecture on Epilepsy”, “Yellow Schools’ Contest” at Adega Restuarent, “Yellow Tour of Public Places” in Manzini and “Yellow Epilepsy Marathon”. The event will commence on the 11th of February 2019.

“We have over the years commemorated the International Epilepsy Day which is on the 1st day of the second week of February in a stretch of 7 days, which we dub the “Yellow Epilepsy Week”. This day is celebrated in over 120 countries on a global scale for the campaign against epilepsy. From the Neolithic, stone, iron, space ages, the twentieth century and arguably the information age, much has been said and done with regard epilepsy.” said the Chairperson of the organization during his speech.
