Speaker of the house of Assembly Honourable Petros Mavimbela and his family missed about 10 bullets early hours of today at Bhunya. The Speaker’s house was also torched with petrol bombs. One bomb was targeted at his government vehicle but the car did not burn.
The Speaker during an interview with reporters from Channel Yemaswati thanked God that no one was injured despite the severity of the attack.
The Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku visited the Speakers residence this afternoon accompanied by his wife. The Deputy Prime Minister said the attacks started as threats on social media and now they have manifested. The DPM said the matter is being investigated by the police.
The community expressed concern about such an attack in their neighborhood. They were however grateful for the immediate visit by the DPM and pray that those responsible for the attack will be caught.
