Young people in Eswatini are going pound for pound with the global youth following the establishment of a TEDx platform where they aim to showcase docuseries, motivational talks, and performances.
These episodes will be broadcast on the internationally acclaimed TEDx platform for the world to witness young emaSwati in action. TEDx is a subsidiary of American – Canadian platform TED, which is a nonpartisan non-profit organisation devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks.
Dubbed TEDxGwamileStreet, this platform was developed by Khudzai Mushambi who attained the license to conduct the TEDx. Mushambi is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Bantu Studios, an organisation that provides a mobile studio for underprivileged communities.
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events.
According to TEDx.com, these events are organised by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities.
TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks and are organised independently under a free license granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TED, but event organizers agree to abide by the platform’s format and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organising, and more.
