A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with stealing a motor vehicle worth about E120 000 and housebreaking.
Mbongiseni Siphesihle Mtsetfwa of the Nyakeni area made his first court appearance on Monday before Magistrate Thembela Shongwe where he was remanded back to police custody pending trial on Valentine’s Day.
On New Year’s Eve, Mtsetfwa allegedly stole a white Isuzu at Fonteyn, Mbabane. The car was property in the lawful possession of Lungelo Tsabedze. He was charged with contravening Section 3 (1) of the Theft of Motor Vehicle Act 16/1991 as amended.
On January 2 in the same area, he allegedly broke into Musa Thethelela Mtsetfwa’s house and stole items valued at over E30 000. These included two laptops worth E13 200 respectively, a red iPhone worth E2 730, four Markham shirts valued at E1 120, a pair of Caterpillar shoes with an estimated cost of E3 000, a blue Dunhill perfume worth about E1 500 and a gate control remote worth E200.
He is set to return to court on January 27 pending trial on February 14.
