With unending complaints and pressure from teams, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has moved swiftly the stop the Mobile Money (MoMo) Ticketing system for its league games.
There has been a huge outcry from premier league teams with the MoMo ticketing system on delayed payments and challenges on verifiable tickets sold.
This afternoon, the PLE through a statement released by the Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth Makhanya disclosed that all clubs shall now be responsible for cash sales of tickets for their home games with the supervision of PLE officials at the stadium, effective 21 January, until further notice.
“This is subject to the PLE EXCO resolution which resolved to suspend the MTN Mobile Money ticketing system with effect from 21 January 2023. All PLE clubs are reminded about the provisions required when hosting games, as per the PLE Rules and Regulations 19.3 and 19.4. Hosting clubs that fail to comply with the above shall be summarily fined 10 per cent of the gross amount collected,” part of the statement reads.
The PLE, in the statement, also highlight that they will be engaging a specialized ticket service provider intending to improve the ticket sales system in the interest of the PLE Clubs.
