Human rights activists in Kenya held a solidarity march for Thulani Maseko on Monday.
The march was held at Jeevanjee Gardens in Nairobi CBD where they were demanding accountability for killings and assassinations of human rights defenders. Some of those who attended the march shared pictures and messages on Twitter under #JusticeforThulani.
“We want justice for Thulani Maseko. He was a good guy who always fought for human rights,” one of the posts reads.
This also follows a vigil that was held in the same country to honour Maseko. Another vigil is planned for today at Nakuru National Courts. Maseko, a Human Rights lawyer and Chairman of the Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF) was gunned down in his homestead on January 21 in front of his family by unknown gunmen.
He was buried over the weekend during a ceremony attended by scores of people. His death has caused attracted global attention as countries, including the United States (US), world organisations, including the UN and global media have called for a proper investigation into his death.
Some of these world organisations have also called for the government of Eswatini to prepare for the open dialogue process to address the political issues in Eswatini.
