The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has revealed that 1 295 faults were reported Monday after a windy storm that greatly affected the Lobamba area.
According to Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager Khaya Mavuso, the strong winds swept across Dwaleni to Lobamba 66kV circuit leading to fallen structures along Mahlanya, Lobamba, Ezulwini, and Langeni.
“This morning we also discovered more broken structures between KaLanga – Simunye and Hhelehhele to Matsapha,” Mavuso said on Tuesday.

Mavuso said alternative options have been put in place to ensure the continuity of power supply in the affected areas. However, some areas are still without power.
“We are still investigating other areas that may have been affected. Costs cannot be populated as yet as inspections are ongoing. The effect on customers has been minimised by providing alternative supply to customers,” said the marketing and communications manager.
Mavuso did not want to commit himself to when the power in the affected areas still without power would be restored. In a public notice, EEC stated that customers were advised that the company had experienced disturbances in their power supply in some selected areas in the country due to the consistent rains experienced over the past few weeks.
The number of faults reported in detail includes 271 in Manzini, 278 in Stonehenge, 257 at Elangeni, 140 in Matsapha, 64 in Nhlangano, and 285 in other unnamed depots.
