‘EOCGA offices history in the making’ – PM

Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has described the opening of the E2.5 million Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) offices as history in the making for sports in the country.

He said the country was moving in the right direction in terms of sports development with such projects. The offices situated in Lobamba were officially opened by the Prime Minister in the presence of guests from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) including Vice President Matlohang Moiloa – Ramaqoqo.

“This is a marvellous project and thanks to His Majesty King Mswati III for allocating the land to EOCGA. The offices are situated in one of the prime Swazi Nation lands in the country. We are confident that sports will develop as the main aim is to see the youth engaged in sports and competing effectively internationally,” he said.

Dlamini said this was one of the best structures of sports in the country. He urged EOCGA to also accommodate the other sporting codes where they can also do their office work inside the new offices.

“I’m happy to see some of our elite athletes present here today and I’m hopeful that EOCGA will decorate the offices by placing the country’s former sports hero’s pictures on the wall. Thanks to the EOCGA leadership including past Presidents for the hard work they have done for sports,” he said.

Also present was the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affair Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, EOCGA President Adam Bomber Mthethwa and his Board Members and sports association’s representatives among others.

ANOCA honoured the government for its contribution is the development of sports in the country before the official opening of the building.
