Late Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s daughter Bona is demanding over E150 000 ($8 100) in maintenance from her soon-to-be ex-husband Simbarashe Chikore.

Zimbabwe media reported that in her divorce papers filed at the High Court on Tuesday, Mugabe stated that her marriage to Chikore had irretrievably broken down. The couple has been married for nine years.

She has also filed for full custody of her three children, with Chikore granted visits every alternate weekend. The late former President’s daughter is demanding that Chikore pay E50 285 ($2 700) per child a month in maintenance.

The couple got married in March 2014 at a private residence of the Mugabe’s in Borrowdale, whereby dignitaries reportedly stumbled on each other to shower the couple with expensive gifts.

This divorce is reported to mark an end to one of the most publicised marriages in the country which began with a flashy wedding that was attended by heads of state from different countries.

For their honeymoon, the couple flew to Seychelles, courtesy of former Cabinet Minister Walter Muzembi.
