Four swimmers for World Champs in Japan

Eswatini will be represented by four swimmers in the World Aquatics Championships to be held in Fukuoka, Japan.

Female swimmers are Hayley Hoy and Swakhile Dlamini while the males are Chadd Ning and Simanga Dlamini. They will be accompanied by two officials Welcome Nhlabatsi who is the coach and Nozipho Mahlalela, the team manager.

The World Aquatics Championships – Fukuoka 2023 will take place from July 14 to 30 2023. The Championships’ concept of “Water Meets the Future” expresses the hope that all the participants will meet the future.

Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) President Herman Jele congratulated the athletes and the coaches for navigating such a challenge in the past 12 months to achieve the selection criteria.

“The ESA Executive Board wishes to congratulate the team for meeting the selection criteria and we are looking forward to seeing them competing in Japan in July,” he said.

Swimming is currently off-season in the country but the team will continue training through the winter, thanks to the heated pool at Mavuso Sports Centre.

The four swimmers:

1. Hayley Hoy female
2. Swakhile Dlamini female
3. Chadd Ning male
4. Simanga Dlamini male
