The Ministry of Information, Communications, and Technology (ICT) in partnership with CANGO and ESCCOM has facilitated a workshop on digital security for senior government officials.
The training aims to capacitate the officials on the risks associated with cyber presence, the significance and the application of the legislature in the country used to combat cybercrimes and the dangers to national security associated with the digital space.

The workshop will run for two days and will include expertise from CANGO and the Eswatini Institute of Management and Public Administration (EIMPA). Representing the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of ICT was the Director of Communications Sakhile Dlamini, who emphasised that the country needed to take into account the effects of the transformation to the digital age.
This he said should be accounted for by ensuring that government is well-equipped and knowledgeable on the digital security landscape.
“With national and global trends and events demonstrating that all nations, including Eswatini, continue to face increasingly sophisticated malicious cyber threat actors as well as a constantly evolving cyber threat landscape, it is crucial that the kingdom takes effective measures to ensure the country’s cyberspace is secure,” said the acting PS.

He further said with the evolution of cyber threats, it was crucial for government officials to stay informed about the latest threats and vulnerabilities and enhance their capabilities and skills base in protecting protecting their systems.
CANGO representative, Director Grants Manager Arlerta Ndlela, in her remarks said from public management, human rights, and service delivery perspective, the cognisance and adoption of cyber security practices and principles were imperative.
Ndlela asserted that the commitment to a holistic approach to digital rights are also evident in the establishment of the multi-stakeholder internet governance forum, which was established by the Ministry of ICT and ESCCOM.
