A ruthless Denver Sundowns pushed Tambuti FC into the relegation cesspit with a 3-0 trouncing at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground on Friday afternoon.

The win, coming after ‘Basop IKappa Kappa’ relieved coach Gcina Dlamini of his duties this week, was the seventh of the season and saw the hub side attain 29 points in 23 games.

The defeat, the 14th loss of a nightmarish season, and now the Lubombo-based side have been sucked into the relegation cesspit as they are only five points away from the drop zone having played a game more than second-from-the-bottom Tambankulu Callies.

Interestingly, Tambuti FC will face the relegation-fighting Callies at Tambankulu Stadium in one of the last three remaining games. Watched by a poor crowd of fewer than 30 people, Sundowns took the lead when maverick winger Mike Dombo finished off after his earlier header from a Vuyilwethu Makhubu corner kick was parried away by Tambuti FC goalkeeper, Phila Mamba.

Dombo managed to pick up the loose ball and finished off sublimely. Sundowns had to wait until the 73rd minute when Tony Brankinos finished off inside the box after Tambuti FC failed to clear their lines.

‘Basop IKappa Kappa’ made it 3-0 in referee, Sanele Ntimane’s three minutes of added time when second-half substitute Lethukukhanya Dlamini find acres of spaces inside the box after a pass from Dombo, squeezed the ball on the far post to send Tambuti FC packing.
