The Eswatini Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) on Saturday, announced that it had breached the 400 000 registered voters mark.

EBC Deputy Chairperson, Commissioner Bishop Sipho Tembe made the announcement shortly after 3 pm. Tembe also encouraged prospective registrants to come out in their numbers and continue to register before the cut-off date.

By 3.15 pm, the number of registered voters was at 400 024. The number of female registrants is more than male registrants at 215 512 and 184 512, respectively. The number of registrants with disabilities is sitting at 18 119. Registration for the national elections closes on June 14, leaving only four days.


The EBC has set a target of 650 000 registered voters for this year’s election. To attain this goal, the organisation has gone on an aggressive voter registration drive with gazebos set up at various shopping centres and churches throughout the country to register as many people as possible.
