Regarding the Eswatini Decent Work Country Programme, the Secretary-General said it was commendable that the Kingdom signed it as it meant that the country was committed to adhering to ILO agreements and conventions.

The Kingdom of Eswatini signed the programme in November last year and the Secretary-General said this demonstrates the government’s commitment towards strengthening the capacity of all people to benefit from the changes taking place in the field of work.

“It is a clear manifestation of your determination to strengthen the institutions of work to ensure adequate protection of all workers. Your government has shown that it believes in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth while at the same time making sure that there is productive and decent work environment,” he said.

He then commended the PM for attending the ILO Conference to share the Kingdom of Eswatini’s perspective on ensuring social justice, especially in the field of work.

The World of Work Summit 2023: Social Justice for All is a high-level forum for global voices to address the need for increased, coordinated and coherent action in support of social justice.

It is expected to provide an opportunity to discuss and inform the proposal to forge a Global Coalition for Social Justice, which was welcomed by the Governing Body of the International Labour Office at its 347th Session (March 2023).
