Due to the ongoing rains, His Majesty King Mswati III has postponed the final day of Sibaya, People’s Parliament to Friday. The last day of the people’s parliament was slated for Tuesday after it was cut short on Monday due to the rain.
However, on Tuesday, the rain continued incessantly resulting in the postponement. Acting Ludzidzini Governor Chief Mashampu Khumalo made the announcement on behalf of His Majesty on Tuesday morning where he stated that the gathering had been moved to Friday, November 1.
“Itsi Ingwenyama, nali litulu alifuni kukhwesha noma kuhhamuka. Nemibiko ikhomba kutsi emaSwati lamanyenti awakhoni kufinyelela emabhasini atekwati kukhwela tincola atokwati kufika eSibayeni.
Ngekwelulekwa ngito tangoma telitulu, Sibaya sekugcina sesitawuba ngalesihlanu, lekulilanga lekuvala sona Sibaya. emaSwati ayakhutsatwa kutsi aphelele ngetinkhani,” Khumalo said.
This is translated as, “Due to the ongoing rains, His Majesty has noted that most emaSwati are unable to make it, therefore, the people’s parliament has been cancelled and will no longer be on Tuesday.
As per advice from meteorologists, it has been deemed necessary to move the final day of Sibaya to Friday. emaSwati are urged to come in numbers.”
On the last day of Sibaya, His Majesty is expected to unveil the new Prime Minister of the 12th Parliament as well as the 20 Senators to complete both houses.
