Be warned! Tropical Storm FILIPO, after making landfall in central Mozambique near Vilankulu and Inhambane, is forecast to move southeastward, impacting eastern Eswatini and potentially lingering until Wednesday.

Tropical storm Filipo hit Mozambique exactly one year after devastating Cyclone Freddy left millions of people in urgent need.

Tropical storm FILIPO has left thousands of people in urgent need of humanitarian support in neighbouring Mozambique.

The Eswatini Meteorological Service warns residents in the eastern lowlands, including Lomahasha, Siteki, Big Bend, and Lavumisa, to brace for heavy rain and strong winds beginning on the evening of March 12 and continuing into the early hours of March 13.

While FILIPO is expected to weaken as it moves offshore by midday, it may leave behind lingering clouds. Residents are advised to take precautions during the storm’s passage.

Following FILIPO’s departure, a cold frontal system interacting with tropical air will bring additional rainfall to Eswatini, primarily impacting the western and southern regions on Thursday.

The Eswatini Meteorological Service asserted that it would continue to monitor the situation and urged residents to stay informed of any updates.
