Nine Mpolonjeni men granted E 27 000 bail

A stench of fear engulfed the Mbabane Magistrates Court when nine men aged between 18-25 years took to the stand.

Junior Dlamini aged 20, Ayanda Dlamini 19, Thando Dudlu 19, Lihle Maseko 25, Mphilo Dlamini 19, Lucky Dube 20, Lizwi Dube 20,

Mzwandile Vilakati 18 years and Sanele Nkhambule 20 years of age were granted bail of E3000 each by Magistrate Chazile Thwala after they all mitigated from bail having been remanded in custody since the day of their arrest.

In the first count, accused persons 1, and 2 were charged with the offence of assault with intent to cause grievously bodily harm that on February 17, 2024,

at ka-Ngini Bar in the Hhohho region the said accused persons each or both of them acting jointly in furtherance of a common purpose did wrongfully, unlawfully, and intentionally stabbed one Bonginkhosi Lushaba with a knife on his head and chin with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and thus committed the said offence.

Again, in the second count, accused persons 1, and 2 are charged with the same offence of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

On the same night of February 17, 2024, near ka-Ngini Bar the said accused persons each or both acting jointly in furtherance of a common purpose did wrongfully, unlawfully, and intentionally stabbed one Nombuso Dlamini with a knife on the right side of her chest with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and thus committed the said offence.

Meanwhile accused persons 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 are charged with offence of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

On May 5, 2024, at Mpolonjeni area in the Hhohho region, the said accused persons each or all of them acting jointly in furtherance of a common purpose did wrongfully, unlawfully, and intentionally assault one Sulinkhundla Mndzebele with a bush knife, stones, and bottles all over the body and thus committed the said offence.

The accused person is charged with the offence of Contravening section 7 of the Sock Theft Act 5 of 1982.

In the same court, Sibusiso Simelane of Mbabane Emvakwelitje Area aged 44 years was charged and fined for stock theft.

That on May 13, 2024, at Mbabane Mvakwelitje, in the Hhohho region, the said accused person did unlawfully and wrongfully transport two oxen without a permit during the night with motor vehicle ASD 799 BL a white Mahindra and thus committed the said offence.

Oxen are commonly castrated adult male cattle; castration inhibits testosterone and aggression, which makes the males docile and safer to work with.

In mitigation, Simelane said he was remorseful for his unlawful l actions and humbly apologised, he pleaded for leniency by citing that he had young children to take care of.

He was slapped with a fine of E2000 or spent 24 months in prison.

Meanwhile, Ntsandvoyakhe Moment Tjaphile aged 18 of Kupheleni was charged with housebreaking with intent to steal and theft.

In a spur of a moment, Moment at Ekupheleni on January 27, 2024, unlawfully and intentionally broke the house of Louis Slindza and stole items valued at E1 350 the property of or in the lawful possession of the said Louis Slindza thus committing the said offence.

The list of stolen items includes an Omega Amplifier valued at E1000 and money in cash of E350.

On the second count, Moment, in March 2024, he wrongfully, unlawfully stabbed one Bongani Dludlu with a knife on the right upper chest with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and thus committed the said offence.

The said accused person was again for his third count charged with the offence of assault with intent to cause bodily harm.

On March 10, 2024, in the Ekupheleni area, in the region of Hhohho, the said accused person did unlawfully and intentionally with intent to induce submission to the taking of items valued at E9000 by the accused person.

He is said to have threatened one Simanga Malinga that unless he consented to the taking of the items and refrained from offering any resistance using force.

He was remanded in custody until May 26, 2024, the bail application was not opposed, and his bail was fixed at E2 500.
