‘Hell hath no fury like a boy distraught’ This revamped adaptation from a Shakespeare play rang true for Sifiso Dlamini who appeared in court for contravening numerous sections of the SODV Act.
Dlamini was charged for beating up his girlfriend in Mangwaneni on May 12, 2024. The violent altercation was a result of Dlamini’s heartbreak and short temper after discovering her beloved girlfriend was cheating on him.
“I have never hit a woman in my life, this was my first time hitting someone, and being violent and for it to be with the woman I thought I loved makes how I feel extremely worse.

I regret my actions. Your worship anger got the better of me,” said Dlamini when mitigating for leniency.
In addition to that Dlamini said on the day, he used fists, slaps, and a broom to hit her girlfriend. During this squabble, Dlamini is said to have damaged property belonging to her girlfriend.
The damaged property were two cell phones, a Samsung and Hisense touch screen, both worth E 1 500.
When handing out the Sentence and fines Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati warned Dlamini and many other men in court and the country to never let anger get the better of them.

“I’m not invalidating what you went through, it is sad but so is breaking the law. When you feel yourself getting angry and heated walk away do not engage in an exchange of words or hands because you end up here. We are trying to fight the scourge of domestic violence in the country and help us,” said Vilakati.
Dlamini was fined E 3000 or 3 years imprisonment and he was told to replace and refund the damaged property of his girlfriend meaning he will part with E4 500.
