On Monday, Clerk to Parliament, Benedict Xaba, expressed Parliament’s deep appreciation for the diligent efforts of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in upholding transparency and accountability in upholding its mandate.
PAC is a committee comprised of Members of Parliament, that plays a vital role in scrutinizing the financial activities of government ministries, ensuring that public funds are utilized efficiently.
“With its mandate to examine public expenditure, PAC is a crucial mechanism for holding government officials accountable for their financial decisions.
The committee meticulously reviews audit reports, conducts investigations, and summons relevant stakeholders to provide explanations and justifications for their actions.

On Monday, the day when Parliament appeared before the PAC to answer or clarify some of the concerns raised by the Auditor General, Timothy Matsebula Financial Audit Report 2021/23.
“The Public Accounts Committee plays a fundamental role in ensuring that the government’s financial transactions are transparent, responsible, and in line with the best practices of financial management.
We value their dedication and commitment to upholding accountability,” highlighted Xaba.
