On Thursday, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini welcomed Alexio Musindo, the newly appointed Director for Southern Africa at the International Labour Organization (ILO), along with his delegation, at the Private and Cabinet Office.
The delegation was accompanied by the United Nations Resident Coordinator, H.E. George Wachira.
The visit was set to introduce Musindo in his new role and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the ILO and His Majesty’s Government.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism about the future collaboration, where he emphasized the shared commitment to advancing social justice and promoting internationally recognized labour rights in Eswatini.
“His Majesty’s Government looks forward to working with Mr. Musindo and the ILO as we collectively advance the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized labour rights.

As His Majesty’s Government, we will continue to respect and promote the rights of workers in Eswatini,” Prime Minister Dlamini stated.
During the engagement, both parties discussed various aspects of labour rights and the importance of strengthening a fair and equitable work environment.
The Prime Minister made emphasis of the government’s dedication to upholding workers’ rights and ensuring a supportive labour framework.
To further solidify this partnership, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to the ILO to make a detailed presentation about their mandate and the value they bring to customers and stakeholders.

This presentation will provide an opportunity to explore the ILO’s contributions and identify areas for enhanced cooperation.
ILO Director for Southern Africa, Musindo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the ILO’s dedication to supporting Eswatini in its labour and social justice initiatives.
The UN Resident Coordinator, George Wachira, also highlighted the importance of this collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals and improving the welfare of workers in the region.
