4-year-old killed by tractor

A toddler was killed in the Manyovu area when he was mowed by a tractor.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning when an unregistered Messy Ferguson tractor, driven by a 28-year-old man from Manyovu, tragically reversed and crushed the four-year-old boy in the vicinity of Big Bend, situated in the Lubombo Region.

The collision resulted in the young child sustaining severe head injuries, as confirmed by Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Information and Communication Officer.

The child was swiftly transported to Good Shepherd Hospital; however, the medical team’s efforts were in vain as the young victim was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The tear-jerking incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community of Manyovu, leaving residents in mourning over the loss of a precious young life. The authorities are expected to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

As the community grapples with this tragic event, one community member told the Eswatini Daily News how devastating the news was for the people of the area.

“We are shattered, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the young child who lost his life in this heartbreaking accident. It’s shocking and painful,” he said.

Meanwhile, Manzini Police are investigating an armed robbery case where on 07/07/2024 at 7:30 pm, a 33-year-old man of Manzini was robbed of his Honda Fit registered KSD 320 DH silver grey valued at E105 000.00 and E10 000.00 cash by three men armed with a pistol while at Ticantfwini area.

Police Information and Communication Officer, Senior Superintendent, Phindile Vilakati urged anyone with information that may lead to the recovery of the motor vehicle and arrest of the suspects can contact Manzini Regional Crime Branch Officer Senior Superintendent, Thabo Hlophe at 7606 8570 or Manzini Desk Officer Inspector Madlopha at 76032658 or dial 999/9999/ for Emergency.



Also, on Tuesday, at 1:15 pm, a 42-year-old man from Mshingishingini was arrested and charged for being found in possession of dagga weighing 75 kg without a license or permit while at Ngwenya.
