His Majesty King Mswati III has declared that Eswatini is set to make a vast impact on the global stage, following recent tours of local businesses that left him impressed with the level of professionalism displayed by Eswatini entrepreneurs.

The King was speaking at the 18th edition of the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (EYA) Gala dinner held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. His Majesty further highlighted the country’s readiness to showcase its work and become a formidable force in international markets.

During the event, the King shared his reflections on the official visits he recently undertook to various businesses in the Manzini region. “Over the past few weeks, I had a lovely opportunity to embark on official tours of various local businesses,” he said.

“We have been pleased to see how the different companies have been established and to witness their operations. We also saw how they are growing professionally in their administration, manufacturing, and production as local businesses. We have been amazed by the wonderful work that emaSwati are doing.”

His Majesty further emphasized that the professionalism observed within these enterprises provides a strong foundation for Eswatini to confidently engage in the global market. “The level of professionalism gives us the guarantee that Eswatini is indeed ready to enter the world stage and markets to showcase our work and be a force to be reckoned with,” he asserted.

Again, the King also commended the efforts of local businesses in job creation, acknowledging the significant impact they have on improving the lives of many emaSwati.

“Importantly, we commend the way these entities have created jobs for many emaSwati, affording them an opportunity to change their lives and those of their families and communities,” the King said. However, the King also expressed concern over the persistent issue of unemployment, particularly among the youth. “It was disheartening to see some of our people still desperate for employment opportunities. We have a lot to do towards job creation to accord our young people who are in need of jobs to be given equal opportunities,” the King stated.

In light of this, the King urged the government to continue supporting the various funds established to finance business startups, with the aim of empowering more young people across the Kingdom to become entrepreneurs.

“We encourage the government to continue supporting the funds we have established to finance business startups so that more of our young people throughout the Kingdom may not just seek employment but be empowered to be entrepreneurs,” His Majesty added.

Moreover, His Majesty King Mswati III expressed his joy at being part of the event and praised the exceptional individuals who have excelled in running their businesses.

“It is with great joy that we join this evening to celebrate the 18th edition of the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards on this auspicious occasion. We are here to celebrate exceptional individuals who have excelled in running their businesses, and to recognize the broader impact of entrepreneurship on our society,” he said.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (EYA) competition is an initiative hosted by Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO) and supported by the First National Bank and other sponsors.
