Festival B headlines Poetry in Comfort

By Ncaba Ntshakala

Talented and seasoned poet Festival B is set to headline the inaugural ‘Poetry In Comfort’ event, promising a unique blend of art, luxury, and entertainment.

This groundbreaking event will take place on December 7, 2024, at Millennium Park in Manzini, and is organized by Jonokuhle Upholstery, renowned for its exquisite and luxurious seating offerings.

The event is expected to create a memorable atmosphere for attendees, as confirmed by Sibonokuhle Simelane, the director of the event.

“We are presenting the art space with a luxurious Poetry In Comfort outdoor concept. It is a self-explanatory idea—we want to provide an exclusive experience for poetry lovers and art enthusiasts, creating lasting memories rather than just an ordinary event,” Simelane stated in an exclusive interview.

Attendees can look forward to a comfortable seating experience, as Jonokuhle Upholstery will ensure that everyone feels like a VIP, lounging on beautifully crafted sofas that reflect the elegance of the occasion.

The theme of the event, “Let’s Meet Over Brunch In Poetry and Style,” encapsulates the luxurious experience that the organizers aim to provide.

The event is structured around three distinct segments, each designed to highlight different aspects of poetry and performance.

The first segment, ‘Talent Search/Talent Appreciation,’ is particularly exciting for young and undiscovered poets.

This segment will provide a platform for these emerging talents to showcase their abilities on a grand stage.

Simelane emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We believe that this will change the poetry industry.

We are giving amazing undiscovered talent a stage to showcase their work to the world.”

Participants in this segment will be divided into two categories: ages 11-16 and 17 and above. “We are looking at keeping the entries limited to maintain the event’s class and manageability,” Simelane explained.

The event will also feature a poetry show, with Festival B headlining the performance. The inclusion of a live band is a noteworthy aspect that sets this event apart from traditional poetry showcases.

“We wanted to give the audience an authentic experience,” Simelane remarked. “Art in its different forms can complement each other beautifully—imagine a poet reciting alongside a pianist, guitarist, bassist, or saxophonist, all on one stage.”

Festival B’s choice as the headliner was met with enthusiasm from the organizers. Simelane expressed the profound impact that Festival B’s poetry has on audiences, saying, “Words would fail us in describing our choice of Festival B.

He is the kind of poet who will leave you with sore fingers from all the snapping in appreciation. His passion for poetry sets him apart as a maestro of words.”

With high expectations for the event, poetry lovers can anticipate an experience unlike any they have encountered before.

“We urge poetry lovers, art enthusiasts, and young people to support this initiative by purchasing tickets,” Simelane encouraged. Tickets will be available for E100, with outlets to be announced soon.

The Poetry In Comfort event not only aims to entertain but also focuses on empowering youth and uplifting the art scene in the country.

The organizers are seeking sponsorship from branding companies, decor specialists, and sound providers to ensure the event’s success and maximize its impact on the local arts community.
