A substantial drug bust took place in the early hours of November 27, 2024, when law enforcement officials apprehended a 24-year-old man in the Ngojeni area in possession of an impressive 84.9 kilograms of dagga.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Mazwi Ndzimandze, the Acting Chief Police Information and Communication Officer.
According to Inspector Ndzimandze, the suspect was detained around 5am during a routine patrol in the area. Officers discovered the large quantity of dagga during a search, revealing the man’s failure to produce a license for the drug, which remains illegal in the country without proper authorization.

“The arrest highlights our ongoing commitment to combating drug-related offenses in our communities,” stated Inspector Ndzimandze.
“Possessing such a large amount of dagga poses a significant threat to public safety and wellbeing.”
Residents have expressed their concerns regarding the growing issue of drug abuse and trafficking in Eswatini.
The suspect is currently being held in custody, where he faces charges related to the possession and distribution of illegal drugs.
He is expected to appear in court shortly as the authorities continue their investigation into the source of the dagga and any potential networks involved.
