Public servants will receive their salaries as early as January 15, 2025, according to a memorandum issued by Accountant General Nomsa Simelane on January 7, 2025.
The communication directed at the secretary to Cabinet, principal secretaries, and heads of departments, outlines the schedule for salary disbursements based on usual payment dates.
Unlike December 2024, when the earliest payments began on the 17th, January’s payments will start even earlier.

Civil servants who are typically paid on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd will receive their salaries on January 15.
Those usually paid on the 23rd and 24th will be paid on January 16, while employees scheduled for payment on the 31st will be compensated on January 21.
The early payment schedule is expected to provide financial relief to public servants, particularly as they prepare for the reopening of schools on January 28, 2025.
The move will help ease the burden of school fees and other related expenses, offering much-needed support during this critical time.
