“We had to come up with strategies to try and reduce road accidents, and one of those was getting our message of safety across many people.

SMVAF Board Chairman Zithulele Gina.

recall last year’s final was played on a cold day, but the stadium was packed, and it showed that the people love the tournament and also its patron,” he said.

Gina said as a Board, they sat down with management and agreed that football was one vehicle they could use as a strategy to get to thousands of people and share road safety tips as well as educate them about the Fund’s payment procedures and new innovations allowing people to go to their own doctors for treatment while getting assisted financially.

“We can have this E100 million reduced through football as we have many people getting our message. We don’t even have the E100 million, but we still pay somehow, and football is taking E5 million,” Gina expanded.

He expressed his gratitude that PLE Chairman Polycarp Dlamini said football was not involved in the drink-driving list and was going to keep things that way while also expecting fans alike not to drink and drive.
