Preliminary reports indicate that upon entering the supermarket, the suspects fired two shots into the air, apparently to intimidate everyone inside and establish control of the situation.

The sound of gunfire reportedly sent shockwaves through the establishment as patrons and workers scrambled for safety.

After firing the warning shots, the suspects allegedly confronted the businessman and demanded money.

Fearing for his safety and that of those present, the businessman reportedly complied with their demands.

The suspects then fled the scene with E200 000 in cash before disappearing in an unknown direction.

Police were alerted to the incident shortly afterwards and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident despite the suspects discharging firearms inside the business premises.

In the wake of the incident, the Royal Eswatini Police Service has renewed its appeal to business owners to take precautionary measures to safeguard their earnings.

Police advised entrepreneurs and business operators to make full use of financial institutions and avoid keeping large amounts of cash at their business premises.

Authorities further warned that criminals are constantly searching for vulnerable targets and encouraged business owners to strengthen security measures to reduce the risk of becoming victims of crime.

Police also appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity before, during or after the robbery to come forward with information.

Investigators believe that members of the community may possess vital information that could assist in identifying the suspects and reconstructing the events leading up to the attack.

“If you may have seen or heard something or you know of any information that will assist in the investigation, please come forward.

Any information received will be treated with confidentiality,” police said.
