The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has opened scholarship applications for students seeking to study at tertiary institutions in South Africa and Namibia, as well as those admitted to the University of Eswatini’s Mbabane Campus.
According to an announcement issued by the Ministry on Monday, October 12, 2026, applications are being accepted online through the Scholarship Loan Application System (SLAS) website, www.slas.gov.sz, with the closing date set for October 31, 2026.
The scholarships are available to students holding final offer acceptance or admission letters from universities and other institutions. The Ministry has emphasised that provisional admission or acceptance letters will not be accepted.
Applicants must also ensure that their intended programmes of study fall under the Eswatini Government’s priority list of programmes, which is available on the Ministry’s Facebook page.
For students seeking to study outside the country, the Ministry has set a minimum cut-off of 33 points, calculated using the best five passed subjects. Applicants are therefore encouraged to check that they meet the academic requirements before submitting their applications.
The Ministry has urged prospective applicants to read and follow the instructions provided on the online application platform carefully before attempting to apply, stressing the importance of complying with the application process.
Students who require assistance with the online application system may contact the Ministry on 2404 2515 or visit the Scholarship Office on the ground floor of the Old Income Tax Building at eTolishini, Mbabane.
