…Mbabane Highlanders AM President Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize declares his players are going to fight for the Charity Cup title on Sunday.
Ahead of the PLE Charity Cup 2026 draw, semi-finalists Mbabane Highlanders AM President Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize has declared a fierce battle for the title.
A E400 000 grand prize is at stake for the champions who will be one of the four teams in the tournament. These are Highlanders AM, Moneni Pirates, Nsingizini Hotspurs and Ubombo Sugar.
The draw will take place on Tuesday at Sigwaca House and will determine who plays who in the first and second semi-finals.
The final will be played on the same day between the two winning teams in the semi-finals.
Mkhize was asked about her team’s chances of winning the title, especially because they won the last edition in 2019 while Eswatini Telecom was the title sponsor.
“Anything is possible. What I can clearly say is that my boys are going to fight. They will play and fight for the fans,” she said.
She said Rome was not built in one day, but she was confident her players would fight.
“The good thing about football is that you never know; anything can happen. I can assure you they will fight, and when they fight, they know they are fighting for the mother and the supporters,” she said.
About their second Mbabane derby success, she said it was good to win it.
“Derbies are difficult to win, but we did it. I told my players to go out there, focus and don’t take them for granted,” she said.
Mkhize said Highlanders AM was back and the team spirit was also high. Highlanders won the Charity Cup play-off match 2-0 at Mavuso Sports Centre, Manzini.
The win ensured them the last spot in the main tournament next Sunday at a venue yet to be confirmed. This was their second victory in a month against Mbabane Swallows.
Highlanders hammered their traditional rivals 4-0 on September 2 in the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup 2026.
