Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night won their third successive Betway Premiership game after beating Richards Bay United FC 1-0 at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef said that they had to take a risk at the start of the second half for then to grind a win.

The Soweto giants could not find a way past Richards Bay in the first half, before the coaches decided totpull out Sibongiseni Mthethwa at halftime for Gaston Sirino, who ended up scoring the winning goal.

The assistant coach said that there was a risk with taking off Mthethwa, but was happy to see the change pay off in the second period.

“It was expected before the game even yesterday at the press conference we discussed about that, we said that it would be a tough game for us. But in halftime, we discussed about something we have to change,” Youssef told journalists.

The Tunisian born coach added that they wanted to add more power in the attack and that’s why they brought in Sirino and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo at half time.

“We needed to play more fas. The rotation was very strong in the first half. We took the decision to take the risks to remove Ox (Sibongiseni Mthethwa) to play with Thabo Cele with ‘Mshini ‘and Sirino in the middle and we were right. Sirino scored the goal.

Then I think in the second half we tried to manage but we were a little bit angry about the players in this kind of game you need to score the second goal to kill the game, we started to joke with the fans,

I’m so happy for the fans, they enjoyed today. Now we are done with this game and now starting from tomorrow ee think about the next game, Mamelodi Sundowns game and I hope all the fans they enjoyed today about this game,” Youssef concluded.

Chiefs’ next match is against league defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns next week Wednesday 27th August at the same FNB Stadium from 19h30.
