Mamelodi Sundowns have been rocked by player transfer issues which have involved players like Khuliso Mudau, Peter Shalulile and recently, Brazilian striker Lucas Rebeiro Costa who wants to leave the club with interest from Qatar as well as Brazil.

Despite all these incidents going around at the club, Sundowns has had a fair start to the season, where they are in the semifinals of the MTN 8 and are third on the Betway Premiership League log with two wins and one draw.

Coach Miguel Cardoso told journalists during a media briefing at the PSL Offices on Thursday afternoon ahead of their MTN 8 semifinals second leg against Orlando Pirates on Saturday that what is happening at the club can’t rip the locker room around because its impossible to be broken.

“I think Mamelodi Sundowns is not making any kind of noise about what is happening around. Whatever happens at Mamelodi Sundowns, us preserving what happens in the locker room.

The locker room is impossible to be ripped apart. It is impossible to be broken by these kinds of things. The locker room is too strong. The values inside the club are too strong so that these kinds of events can do nothing,” Cardoso told the media.

The Portuguese born mentor further stated that their focus is too strong and that helps them prepare better for every game which they play next.

“The focus is too strong. We become better on preparing for every match and the time is too short so the levels of concentration must be so high so that we mustn’t relate what is wrong.

It’s always the philosophy of when one falls, two should rise. That’s how we develop character. That’s how we show character and I think that’s how the story of Mamelodi Sundowns has been written by strong character.

We are a strong team. We are a strong people. It’s always solved inside us in the best way possible for sure, in the right moment, all this will be fine,” Cardoso observed.

Meanwhile, Sundowns on Thursday evening released a statement on the ongoing issues at the club.
