Young Buffaloes suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of their Botswana opponents Gaborone United Ladies in the
CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers 2025 in a game played at the UJ AW Muller Stadium in Auckland Park Johannesburg.
Young Buffaloes goalkeeper Nokwanda Mamba was the main difference between a heavy score and the respected 1-0 score line which the army side suffered.
Talking to Eswatini Daily News after the game Young Buffaloes coach Fisiwe Hlope said that their main downfall was the fact that they were very slow in their approach to the game.
“We were slow. We were very slow in transition and that’s why we even conceded that penalty though I am not sure it was a penalty but the referee’s decision is final and there is nothing we can do about it.

We just have to focus on our next game against Kick4Life Ladies on Monday, ” Hlope told Eswatini Daily News.
Meanwhile talking about their next game Hlope said they can not give up on qualifying for the semifinals as the second best team in their group and they need a win to stand that chance.
“No. We can’t give up. We have to play to win against Kick4Life on Monday. You never know what will happen in the other groups.
Maybe if we win we could be the second best finishers and quality for the semifinals. So what we need to do is to improve on how we played today (Saturday). Be a bit faster and avoid mistakes in the defence and win the game. We can’t give up,” Hlope observed.
Young Buffaloes’ next game is on Monday against Kick4Life Ladies of Lesotho at the same venue UJ AW Muller Stadium from 12noon on Monday.
