Liverpool pulled off yet another stoppage-time escape act as Mohamed Salah’s 95th-minute penalty secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

It was the Reds’ fourth consecutive win sealed in the dying stages, continuing a remarkable pattern of late heroics that once again denied their opponents a share of the spoils.

For long spells, it seemed Jürgen Klopp’s men—missing record signing Alexander Isak, left out after limited minutes for Sweden and no preseason—would finally drop points for the first time this campaign. Head coach Arne Slot confirmed the £125m striker is being kept fresh for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Atlético Madrid, but his ruthless finishing was sorely missed against a Burnley side drilled in defensive resilience.

Even after Lesley Ugochukwu’s dismissal for a second yellow, the hosts refused to buckle—until Jeremie Frimpong’s late cross struck the arm of Hannibal Mejbri. Salah, having failed with his last two spot-kicks, showed nerves of steel to convert and in doing so overtook Andrew Cole in the Premier League scoring charts with 188 goals, while also becoming Liverpool’s all-time leading league penalty scorer with 35.

Burnley restricted their visitors to just four shots on target from 27 attempts, but their discipline finally cracked under pressure. Liverpool’s perfect start remains intact, and they now sit three points clear at the summit, once again proving they are the masters of the late show.
