His Majesty King Mswati III has officially handed over projects valued at E15 million to 12 cooperatives under the Madlangempisi Inkhundla.

This investment, financed through the Regional Development Fund (RDF), is set to benefit approximately 1,600 emaSwati by enhancing agricultural productivity and fostering economic resilience.

The projects unveiled by His Majesty include essential equipment such as trucks, tractors, and implements, alongside a feedlot and animal feed.

These resources are expected to not only bolster local farmers’ productivity but also provide a steady supply of goods to the community and surrounding areas.

During the handover ceremony, King Mswati III commended the cooperatives for their professionalism and efficiency in managing their operations.

He highlighted the success of one cooperative that has reported remarkable dividends, generating about E44 million annually.

“This is a testament to what can be achieved when we invest in our own people,” the King remarked.

Addressing the challenges faced by many citizens in accessing financial support, the King acknowledged the struggles people experienced when indebted to financial institutions.

“I saw the need to make the Rural Development Fund (RDF) accessible to every citizen, ensuring they can avail themselves of financial help without falling into the trap of excessive debt,” he stated.

It should be noted that His Majesty’s intervention comes at a critical time when communities have been grappling with financial constraints, particularly in the wake of economic challenges brought about by the global pandemic.

Recognizing the toll these challenges have taken on mental health, he remarked, “I couldn’t stand by and watch emaSwati go under depression.”

The cooperatives have pledged to utilize the funds and equipment effectively, with plans to increase production and contribute to local food security.

It is worth mentioning that King’s investment is seen as a crucial step towards fostering a sustainable economy and improving the quality of life for thousands of emaSwati.
