As once and recently speculated in one of the Eswatini Daily News’s articles, Mbabane Highlanders beloved, Khayelihle ‘Karas’ Dlamini, is back in the team.
The former left wing forward, renowned for his trademark step-overs and free kick goals, some of which delivered major trophies like the defunct Eswatini Bank Cup and Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup, returns to the club for a second time since he quit several years ago to end his career at Manzini Wanderers.
His first comeback was during South African businessman Chief Ally Kgomongwe as a club legend, and now under yet another South African businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s reign.
This time, he has agreed to be the team’s new Public Relations Officer (PRO). Highlanders had hoped to officially announce him on Monday during the national radio EBIS’ Sport Show programme.
“We had been expecting Highlanders who wanted to announce Karas as their new PRO, but we’ll now engage them in another platform,” said the programme host.
This publication had it from close sources that Karas,a soft-spoken legend of the now black and gold outfit, was one of several other renowned names to serve in the new management committee (MC).

Currently representing the team as its spokesman, patron Charles ‘Ace’ Jele recently said they had recommended certain names to MaMkhize, but it was her decision to approve and appoint those she felt could serve her vision. Sought again on Monday, his phone rang unanswered. However, Karas confirmed his appointment.
“I haven’t yet started but I believe the team just wants to make an official unveiling or announcement,” he said.
Meanwhile, MaMkhize was on Sunday quoted as saying her team was taking things slow and not in a hurry to predict anything.
“It’s too early in the season, and we’re taking each day and one game at a time,” she responded when interviewed after the win against Amawele.
Highlanders had just won 1-0 over elite debutants, Amawele. She was asked if she thought her team could go on and win the league.
Highlanders has played three league matches, lost the first, and won the last two.
