The E52 million National Waste Management Plant in Matsapha has come under scrutiny as Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and members of the Senate Portfolio Committee toured the facility.
The facility, which includes an incinerator, was commissioned by Prime Minister Dlamini in March 2026 and was constructed with support from the Global Fund. The tour also included the Oxygen Plant in Matsapha, which was established to ensure a steady and reliable supply of medical oxygen in the Kingdom.
The visit formed part of the delegation’s inspection of key facilities and projects, allowing senators to see the infrastructure and operations on the ground.
Senator Chief Prince Ngangabani said senators were pleased to have the opportunity to tour the facilities alongside the Prime Minister.
He said the tour, which started in Mbabane before proceeding to Matsapha, was important because it allowed senators to observe developments first-hand and take note of issues that may require attention.

Ngangabani said the experience would assist senators in their parliamentary responsibilities, particularly when discussing challenges identified during such visits.
“We are able to take note of the challenges that the Prime Minister’s Office is facing and be able to support him in Parliament where we can,” he said.
He said it was also important for senators to visit projects and understand how public resources were being utilised.
Ngangabani stressed the importance of knowing where public funds were directed and ensuring that emaSwati could see the value of government investments.
“It is important to know where emaSwati’s money goes,” he said. The Matsapha tour highlighted major investments in medical oxygen supply and healthcare waste management, including the newly commissioned incinerator supported by the Global Fund.
