Adadevoh calls for equitable distribution of value-added resources

Senior Global Vice President for Campus Crusade for Christ, Professor Delanyo Adadevoh, has called for Eswatini’s industrialisation drive to be anchored on equitable distribution to ensure all citizens benefit from value-added products.

Prof. Adadevoh said industrialisation that only serves foreign interests or elite networks fails to empower the ordinary citizen and undermines inclusive economic growth.

He was speaking at Happy Valley Hotel during an engagement with members of the Prime Minister’s Office Parliament Portfolio Committee, a session also attended by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini.

“Value added resources must be fairly distributed to empower all sectors of the economy. All citizens must benefit from the value-added products,” Prof. Adadevoh said.

“You can industrialise and yet your products are more for foreigners than they are for your own citizens. Or the products will be more for the wealthy and their networks rather than for the ordinary citizen,” he said.

He said government has a responsibility to ensure that value addition is structured to create shared prosperity.

“Government ensures that value-added resources are available to all so that there is good news for everyone,” he said.

Prof. Adadevoh further underscored the value of excellence as a critical pillar for national transformation, stating that excellence in execution should define public service and development initiatives.

“Let’s come to the value of excellence. You know when we are working, excellence must be the standard,” he said.

Prime Minister Dlamini, who attended the engagement, had earlier urged portfolio committee members to become principals of the country’s development and to think boldly about transformation in line with His Majesty King Mswati III’s call.

The engagement forms part of efforts to expose legislators to values-based leadership models that link governance, economic justice and national development.

Prof. Adadevoh is in the country for a series of leadership engagements with various sectors, including government and faith-based organisations.
