The Gigi Gang Show – A First in African Hip Hop

Johannesburg –  Six times Award-winning hip hop sensation, Gigi Lamayne has officially been labelled as the first female to put together and successfully execute a hip hop one-woman-show in the African continent. A crowd of close to 5000 people gathered at Elkah Stadium in Soweto, South Africa on the 4th of May 2019 in support of The Gigi Gang Show.

The Gigi Gang Show was greeted with overwhelming enthusiasm by media houses across the country and much-acclaimed media personalities such as DJ Fresh, Nadia Nakai, Fifi Cooper, Nomuzi Mabena and Mshoza. Kaya FM, Sof ‘n Free, Red Bull and Castle Lite were some of the much-acclaimed brands that backed her on the journey to a victorious turn out.

Gigi Lamayne dazzled the crowd with an award-worthy performance of her chart-topping singles such as Bozza, Lobola, and Ice-cream. Some of the male heavyweights such as Khuli Chana, Manu Worldstar, Big Zulu, Reason, Scooby Nero, DJ Sabby, Touchline, DJ Switch just to name a few, all graced the Gigi Gang Show stage and played a remarkable role in making the event a success.

When asked what the outcome of The Gigi Gang Show means, the woman of the moment had this to say: “We did it and there are only more straying moves on the way for young women of color. We aim to break down doors and create opportunities and this is what the Gigi Gang Show will aim to do so for years to come.”

The first annual Gigi Gang Show is marked as the launch pad of a fully-fledged female headlined concert made for the females by the females, it also stands to prove that women indeed have created substantial roles that are rare in the entertainment industry.
