Public Transport will work and operate normally as of today and will work according to their permits.
Public Transport Chairperson Sihlangu Nhlabatsi said the Association of public transport will make sure that public transport operates normally as of today in all towns of the country. Nhlabatsi said operations were negatively affected by the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic for two years, but with the ease of level 1 regulations they will be able to work normally again. “I’d like to urge all public transport operators and Associations to work hard and make sure transport is always available in all areas. It will look very bad and it is unacceptable to find passengers stranded because of transport unavailability“, stated Nhlabatsi.
He also urged all transport operators to follow all Covid-19 protocols, making sure that sanitizers are available in buses and kombis, following observations lately that transports are operating in the absence of sanitizers and not following Covid-19 rules.
Not forgetting the issue of school going children, he also pleaded with parents to make it a point that their children have their face masks at least two for a day, as schools are opening today. Transport operators usually face challenges where children come on board without face masks claiming to have lost them “It is the duty of parents to make sure that their children have at least two face masks per day in case one gets dirty or get lost along the day”, narrated Nhlabatsi.
