MANZINI – In five days Eswatini will be adopting a New York City state of mind: the city that never sleeps after Pick n Pay based in Mashayitafula in collaboration with Matsapha Town Council has notified the nation that the store will be operating 24 hours.

Pick n Pay has answered the prayers of most moms who juggle working late and the great responsibility of getting home groceries after hours. Khetho Dlamini store manager said, “Over the years, we have been experiencing congestion in the store towards closing hours, a time where we, as staff members, are supposed to be cleaning, tidying, and locking up. Instead, we find ourselves working overtime trying to service customers standing in long queues with trolleys. The addition of operating hours is to accommodate our customers that work odd hours.’’

Dlamini said, “the project that will kick off next month, on the 1st of September and will be implemented at a small-scale to prove viability.”

Futis Chicken restaurant has been the only service provider operating 24 hours affording customers convenience across the kingdom. An excited customer commented, “I have always asked myself why aren’t there grocery stores operating 24 hours, but now that question has been answered. The company has placed themselves high on the map.”

This may come as a strenuous change to staff members who will be working at night. The store manager explained that no employee will be on duty for 24 hours, they will work in shifts as provided in the country’s Labour laws.
