Eswatini baker wins World’s Super Exceptional Cake Decorator award

Local baker, Nonhlanhla Dlamini has flown the Kingdom’s flag sky-high by winning the coveted title of first runner-up in the World’s Super Exceptional Cake Decorator competition.

Dlamini, who is the founder and director of Nono’s Cakes, says they were invited by Amazing Cakes Ideas USA to participate in the competition. She adds that the exposure and the experience they got are highly appreciated.

“Firstly, I would like to thank God and the team for the arduous work they put in. I am so excited, and I feel loved. It’s such an honour taking space on this huge platform as a Pastry Chef from Eswatini. It is amazing how our cake was spotted, and the nation stood by my side and showed me that they believe in our product and voted. For that, I am profoundly grateful,” she said.

Dlamini added that the award shows how much potential the country and the continent have in art.

“This award means we need to push ourselves harder and out of our comfort zone to reach more people through cake art. To all our clients and the nation, we have great new flavours for the coming year which will whole new culinary experiences. We expect to train and mentor more aspiring bakers who also wish to find their passion in this industry,” said Dlamini.

Eighty cakes from around the world took part in this competition.
