By Ntokozo Magongo

MTN Premier League leading goal scorer Njabulo Maziya was awarded the player of the month for December.

The Madlenya FC player was presented with the trophy and E6 000 for his hard work after scoring three goals for his side last month. The 28-year-old has been behind his team’s heroic performance as they are seventh on the 14 teams log after 11 games.

Maziya has scored nine goals so far in the league alongside Mbabane Swallows’ Felix Badenhorst and Manzini Sea Birds’ Muzi Tsabedze. Maziya was winning the player of the month for the first time since he started playing football at a high level a decade ago.

Maziya who is former Manzini Wanderers and Railway United striker said this was a motivation for him and he would work hard to earn more accolades. He now joined the nominees of being the player of the season.

“First I would like to thank God and Madlenya for giving me the chance to play football. My target is to at least score 23 goals by the end of the season,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ezulwini United (Former Tinyosi FC) striker Andile Mabuza was announced as the best player in the MTN National First Division and he was awarded a trophy and E2 000.

The player scored a brace in December against Shooting Stars. He said this was the beginning of good things and he is hoping to win more awards.
