The government, through the Rural Development Fund (RDF), has approved the electrification of over 100 homes at Hhukwini.
This is according to Hhukwini Indvuna Yenkhundla Titus Mkhabela. Mkhabela shared that different areas around Hhukwini had received approval for electrification and what was left now was for the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) to allocate a contractor to start the process of installing electricity in these areas.
The areas approved for electrification include Mdzangwini, Ebhandeni, and LaMgabhi. He was speaking during a graduation ceremony held at Hhukwini, where 20 young people who had undergone training in electric wiring were receiving certificates.
Mkhabela said these young people would be of great assistance to the community especially because most houses would now require electric wiring due to the number of approved electricity schemes in the constituency. They attained certificates in Grade 3 training in house wiring.
“These young people will now be able to create opportunities for employment and also assist the community in the wiring of the homes around,” he said.
Mkhabela further said they were also devising other strategies to ensure young people in the area equip themselves with more skills to generate income.
