‘Swazi Bolt’ sets sight on unearthing talent

By Ntokozo Magongo

The old saying goes: God gives more to those who give. With an open hand, you are bound to receive more. Following that saying, Eswatini’s fastest man, Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa is opening a foundation to help the less fortunate follow in his footsteps.

The country’s fastest man will launch a foundation to trade as ‘Swazi Bolt Foundation’ and it’s going to give more assistance to elders and orphans who want to fully engage in sports.

Matsenjwa was on Sunday honoured by the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) with a Commonwealth Certificate for his excelling performance in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games where he was seventh overall out of 80 athletes from all over the world in the 200m.

Matsenjwa said it was high time that he gives back to the nation as his running career was closely coming to an end.

“There are things that I have to cover first before the foundation starts to operate but I’m looking forward to assisting the elders and orphans. They will be the high priority of the foundation,” he said.

Matsenjwa said he is inspired by the fact that he grew up under his grandmother who supported him and he wants to give back to the elders. He said there are stakeholders that he is yet to meet as he will be seeking sponsors for the foundation to be a success.
