Premier League resuscitates Junior Leagues

By Lwazi Dlamini

After a four-year hiatus, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Development Leagues will bounce back this year.

The PLE is reviving an Under-15s and Under-19s league for both the National First Division and Premier League teams. According to a communique to the 26 members of the PLE, the organization reminded the teams to register the players for the two developmental leagues before the expiry of the second registration window period on February 10.

“Clubs are to register players born on or after 01 January 2008 for the Under-15 and players born on or after 01 January 2004 for the Under-19 team,” part of the statement reads.

The PLE Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Makhanya then announced that the Developmental Leagues will both kick off on the weekend of March 4-5 and fixtures will be released in due course.

Meanwhile the PLE Executive Committee, in a meeting held on Tuesday, has given teams a leeway to continue with cash sales of tickets at their home games supervised by PLE officials until further notice.
