Zhomba Entertainment, a record label based in Harare, will host a Twitter space for artists in the Southern African Developing Community (SADC) region to discuss business art and how artists can monetize their craft.

“This seminar is necessary for artists who need to understand the art of business for them to be able to make profits out of the industry,” said Zhomba Entertainment spokesperson Zee Viano said.

According to a statement, the seminar will be held on Saturday at 7 pm. The discussion will be hosted by Zimbabwe’s celebrated media personality Sizwakele Ndlovu, popularly known as Zwa.

According to a statement, Zwa will be joined by finance expert and musician cum politician Dr Energy Mutodi who will speak on the financial side of art.

Meanwhile, Sandton-based KayNine Studios Managing Director Khumbu Malinga will also join the discussion and share his experience in the arts and entertainment industry, and Muzo Beats from Zambia, as well as Skyz Metro FM radio presenter Khaya Moyo, will join.

Zambian artist Lady Vee will also be among the delegates who will be joined by a surprise guest who is reported to be on the leading cast of the popular South African TV soapie Generations the Legacy.

The discussion is birthed by artists who have been left with raw deals that have seen them complaining about not making money from their art.

Amongst these is South African Songtress Zahara who claimed that she never received her dues for her hit song ‘Loliwe’ which she wrote and performed under TS Records. Another is Amapiano star Sir Trill, who has recently complained of making hits and not being paid his dues for the various songs he has churned out.
