The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has issued a warning to people who are campaigning illegally.
In an interview with Eswatini TV, EBC Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe warned aspiring participants to wait for the appropriate time to start campaigning for their respective positions at Tinkhundla.
It has been reported that there were people who were buying food parcels in the different communities around the country, whilst others are said to be already addressing themselves as ‘Mhlonishwa’ which is supposedly a way of announcing that they will be running.
“It is imperative that emaSwati are not easily swayed or influenced by such people,” said Bhembe.
He further advised that people from the different Tinkhundla in the country should also take the initiative to sit down and analyse what needs to be improved in the respective communities to ensure that illegal campaigners do not prey on the innocent all in the name of fixing those issues.
“The public is therefore warned to be wary of any ‘act of kindness’ from aspiring campaigners. In the event there is suspected illegal campaigning taking place, people should report to the commission with immediate effects,” he advised.
