The State Opening of the 5th Session of the 11th Parliament will be broadcast live on Eswatini TV and other social media platforms.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday as announced by the Speaker of the House of Assembly Petros Mavimbela.

“The national broadcaster-Eswatini TV and Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services will be live on the day. Social media platforms such as Eswatini TV’s YouTube and Facebook pages will be live streaming to enable emaSwati to view and listen to the broadcasts,” said Mavimbela.

Explaining some of the logistics, the Speaker implored all guests to carry their invitation cards with them to gain entry. He said the guests will be seated according to the colour codes of the invitation cards.

Regarding health-related matters, the Speaker said officials from the Ministry of Health will be stationed within the precincts for emergency purposes.

“Guests are required to dress formally or be in their traditional SiSwati regalia or attire. EmaSwati are known for their respectful nature worldwide, and they must continue even during the ceremony for it to be a great success,” he said.

He also advised that Members of Parliament will be expected to be seated inside their designated seats by 10 am on the day.

“Traffic to Parliament will be controlled by officers from the Royal Eswatini Police Service and parking stickers will also be issued that will direct attendees to the designated parking bays. A social media link will be issued for dignitaries through the line ministry to be able to follow the proceedings,” emphasised the Speaker.
