No shutdown will take place on our watch – DPM

By Khulile Thwala

Deputy Prime Minister Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku has firmly declared that the shutdown being pre-empted by instigators on social media will not take place on the government’s watch.

Masuku was responding to a question on what the government had to say about an announcement recently made by Swaziland Public Transport Union Secretary General Sticks Nkambule that a national public transport shutdown was planned for April 12 to 13.

“Most of these people make these announcements from a place of hiding and never actually declare where they are speaking from so, we cannot be entertaining such. If they want to enforce these shutdowns, they should do so with the knowledge that we are prepared for such incidences,” he said.
